We are seeking an Associate Editor to join our dynamic editorial team. In this role, you will play an essential part in creating and publishing high-quality content tailored to physicians, maintaining high editorial standards across multiple platforms. You'll work closely with our society partner to develop engaging material for digital and print publications. This is a fully remote position, with the flexibility to work from our NJ-based office if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop compelling written content, including but not limited to news briefs, research abstract summaries, and feature-length articles, for a physician audience
- Edit content for a monthly member magazine, including marketing copy and submissions from the editorial board and other partners
- Foster dynamic client relationships with health care thought leaders, employing tact, empathy, and problem-solving expertise
- Manage email campaigns, including email copy and editorial calendar of research, marketing, and news items for weekly e-newsletters
- Support the editorial review process with the Managing Editor and society partners to ensure adherence to publication style and efficiency of production workflows
- Collaborate with design, digital, and project teams to align on content strategy
- Adhere to style guides (primarily AP and AMA) to maintain consistent editorial quality
- Provide on-site conference coverage support, including attending events and writing recaps on-site or following meetings
- Produce content (articles, videos, podcasts, social media) for other Formedics digital properties as needed
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
- 2+ years of writing/editing experience (health care or medical writing is a plus)
- Must be able to travel to the society's annual conference, with flexibility for potential travel to cover other live events or meetings
- Experience with content calendars and/or email marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a high level of accountability
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interfacing with subject matter experts in a professional manner
- Strong time management skills and a commitment to deadlines
- Openness to constructive feedback with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
