Figure 1, the Webby award-winning platform for medical case-based knowledge sharing, has reached the incredible milestone of over 100,000 real-world medical cases. This makes Figure 1 the world’s largest library of medical cases — uploaded by users all over the globe. This achievement marks the first step toward Figure 1’s next ambitious goal: to collect 1 million cases, and become the world’s most comprehensive source of real world medical knowledge.
Figure 1 is a safe and secure platform where healthcare professionals collaborate on real-world medical cases. Over 3 million registered members — as well as prominent institutions including U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Cleveland Clinic, and Doctors Without Borders — have contributed more than 100,000 cases, and over 1.5 million comments discussing case knowledge, rare conditions, and strategies for care.
Notably, this entire library of case knowledge is user-generated content. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and others have come together to build the world’s largest collection of case-based medical resources. The platform leverages the contributions of the Figure 1 community by connecting members with the information they need, providing a venue for dialogue between members, and building a media-rich documentation history for swift and easy reference.
“Our mission is to democratize medical knowledge and improve the future of healthcare,” said Josh Wildstein, CEO of Figure 1. “We’re absolutely thrilled to reach this incredible milestone that showcases the power of our community. By connecting millions of healthcare practitioners around the globe, we have amassed not only the largest case library in the world, but also filled it with useful, diverse, and unique case knowledge. With Figure 1, it is easier than ever before to teach, learn, and keep your finger on the pulse of medical information.”
The case knowledge on Figure 1 has helped inform medical communities about swiftly changing public health conditions like SARS, MERS, and COVID-19, provided rare and unique case knowledge to healthcare practitioners in remote areas and under-resourced facilities, and offered real-time diagnostic feedback between members to improve patient outcomes and save lives.
Figure 1 is also excited to announce their next step: 1 million cases, with the goal of becoming the world’s largest source of real world medical knowledge.
By increasing the library of case knowledge to 1 million cases, Figure 1 will diversify the cases on the platform so that anyone, anywhere, can find the exact medical information they need, the exact moment they need it. Doing so will help bridge gaps between healthcare practitioners from diverse geographies and areas of practice, from case collaboration to clinical trial recruitment and more.
Wildstein explains: “The value of the knowledge we’ve collected grows each time we connect more practitioners with new cases. Each new case provides insight and learning opportunities for healthcare professionals around the world. Whether you have dozens of cases to share, or a single unique case that will add to the conversation, Figure 1 is interested in your contribution. Please join us in sharing your wisdom with the world. Let’s get to 1 million cases, together.”
